Instructions
Please carefully read the entire sheet before starting repair.
- Make sure engine is cold and carefully remove the radiator cap. If there is enough room, pour in the recommended amount of Steel Seal. If the radiator is full, drain down enough antifreeze from the radiator to get the Steel Seal in. For cooling systems with no radiator cap, remove the top radiator hose and pour the Steel Seal directly into the radiator hose and then reconnect the top radiator hose.
- Tighten the radiator cap back on. Turn the heater and fan to maximum and then start the engine. Hold the RPM’s at 1,000 for 60 minutes. Shut the vehicle down and let it cool off completely. Top off the radiator with antifreeze and water, then replace the radiator cap on tightly. Leave the Steel Seal in your system and drive the vehicle as usual.
- If you notice bubbling in your radiator, we recommend using a Stant Lev-R-Vent radiator cap with the lever in the “up” position to relieve the pressure while the vehicle is running. After you turn the engine off you can place the lever in the “down” position. These caps can be purchased at many auto parts stores.
